Save electricity

Every year, especially when entering the summer, the Electricity industry coordinates with all levels of industry to organize many forums calling on everyone to practice saving electricity. In principle, the more products a business sells, the more excited it is, and many industries even encourage buyers by offering promotions, discounts, and giving away additional products. So why does the Electricity industry do the opposite, calling on customers to reduce consumption of its products?

Because the electricity we use every day is produced from coal, water and recently solar energy, wind power... The raw materials for electricity production are non-renewable and at risk of being depleted. Meanwhile, the demand for electricity production and use is increasing. Therefore, the Electricity industry calls on everyone to save electricity. Many experts believe that Vietnam and many other countries are facing the risk of electricity shortages in the near future. That requires electricity saving to be implemented seriously and effectively. Especially in the summer, the amount of electricity consumed increases many times compared to other seasons and the ability to produce electricity from hydropower is limited. In fact, in the summer, the Electricity industry in many localities has to cut off electricity for daily life in rotation to regulate the power source for production and people's lives.

According to statistics from the Electricity industry, over the past 10 years, through various forms of calling for savings, the whole country has saved 37 billion kWh, equivalent to nearly 67,000 billion VND. That reduction in electricity costs is beneficial to both the people and businesses, and also contributes to the Electricity industry reducing the pressure of power shortages, especially during peak seasons. Also according to the Electricity industry, the whole country has 2,961 key energy-using establishments. If only those establishments save at least 2% of electricity consumption each year, the whole country will save about 1.4 billion kWh of electricity, equivalent to saving about 2,700 billion VND in electricity costs.

In many countries around the world, calling on people to save electricity is also carried out annually and during peak seasons. For our country, this work is also called on by the Electricity industry and all levels and sectors to practice saving electricity and has been widely responded by the people. The saying: "Turn off when not in use" is now passed on by people everywhere to practice together. Thereby, helping each family reduce the amount of money they have to pay every month, contributing to reducing the greenhouse effect, helping to prevent global warming, improving the living environment in a more positive direction.
