On the evening of July 5, the Vietnamese women's team defeated Guam 4-0, winning all 3 matches in the qualifying round of Group E, officially winning a ticket to the 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship Finals.

Nguyen Thi Van opened the score in the 2nd minute, Bich Thuy scored a double, Hai Yen sealed the score at 4-0 in the 73rd minute. After 3 matches, the Vietnamese women's team won 9 absolute points, scored 12 goals and did not concede any.

Vietnam team wins first pickleball gold medal at PPA Tour Asia

On the evening of July 5 (Hanoi time), Vietnamese pickleball recorded an important milestone when the pair Tong Nhat Minh - Le Xuan Duc (both 17 years old) won a spectacular victory in the U18 men's doubles final of the Panas Malaysia Open 2025, part of the PPA Tour Asia system.

After losing 1-11 in the first set and being down 0-5 at the beginning of the second set, the two 17-year-old players unexpectedly came back, ending the emotional match with the first championship for Vietnam at the PPA Tour Asia.

Tong Nhat Minh, a former table tennis player and currently playing for the Kamito pickleball team, won the Open mixed doubles championship at the Astra Open (Dong Nai) when playing with Trinh Linh Giang. Meanwhile, Le Xuan Duc affirmed his talent when defeating Ly Hoang Nam in the final match of the Hoiana WPC Finals 2025.

Not only stopping at the U18 men's doubles gold medal, the Vietnamese team continued to make their mark with many outstanding achievements.

Trinh Linh Giang has just won the right to the final of the Pro Men's Singles after excellently defeating Jack Wong (Hong Kong) with a score of 2-1. This semi-final is especially attractive because both are former professional tennis players, only switching to pickleball since 2024.

In the professional mixed doubles event, Le Xuan Duc continued to be a bright spot when he and his teammate Yufei Long (China) defeated the championship candidate pair from India, winning a ticket to the semi-finals at the PPA Asia Panas Malaysia Open 2025.

Trinh Linh Giang's winning moment in the semi-final match caught the attention of many pickleball fans.

However, in the professional men’s doubles event, despite their efforts, the pair Nguyen Anh Thang (nicknamed “Anh Chu Pickleball”) – Huynh Chi Khuong could not overcome the duo Mitch Hargreaves – Rob Stirling in the quarterfinals. This defeat meant that Vietnam no longer had a representative in the Pro men’s doubles event in the semi-finals.

In the women's category, unfortunately, Vietnamese pickleball players have not been able to make an impression as none of their representatives have reached the semi-finals. Although they could not go further, the competitive spirit and determination of the Vietnamese athletes still received much praise from experts and fans.

PSG beat Bayern 2-0, won ticket to FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals

In the early morning of July 5, PSG defeated Bayern Munich 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup, winning a ticket to the semi-finals despite ending the match with only 9 players on the field.

Both teams started the game cautiously, with few clear-cut chances in the first half. At the end of the half, Bayern were at a huge disadvantage when Musiala suffered a serious injury and had to leave the field after a collision with Pacho and goalkeeper Donnarumma. Before that, Stanisic had to leave the field early due to injury, causing Bayern to lose the breakthrough in their play.

In the second half, PSG increased the pace of the match. In the 78th minute, after Harry Kane lost the ball, PSG counterattacked quickly, Joao Neves assisted Doue to shoot diagonally past Neuer, opening the score for PSG. However, just 5 minutes later, PSG lost a man when Pacho received a direct red card for a rough foul on Goretzka.

In the 90th minute, PSG continued to lose players when Lucas Hernandez was sent off for a foul, leaving the French team with only 9 players on the field. However, in the 90+7 minute of injury time, PSG unexpectedly scored the second goal thanks to Dembele, sealing the score at 2-0.

In the 90+8 minute, referee Antony Taylor awarded Bayern a penalty because he thought Nuno Mendes had committed a foul, but after consulting VAR, he overturned the decision, ending the dramatic match.

Overcoming Bayern Munich, PSG won the right to enter the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals, continuing the journey to conquer the title in an impressive season.

MU's surprise contract

Manchester United are actively looking for a replacement for their goalkeeper amid uncertainty over Andre Onana's future. Brazilian media recently revealed that the Red Devils have put Botafogo's number one goalkeeper, John Victor, in their sights.

According to Bola, MU scouts were present to watch John Victor play in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup round of 16 match between Botafogo and Palmeiras. The source said that MU is willing to spend about 12 million euros to bring the 29-year-old goalkeeper to Old Trafford.

Botafogo owner John Textor admitted he really likes John Victor but also insisted "no player is unnegotiable", paving the way for MU to make a bid.

John Victor has been in impressive form since joining Botafogo, helping the club win the Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian league last season, even being named in the best XI of both tournaments.

This season, John Victor continues to maintain his consistent form, with a save rate of 81.1%, ranking third in the Brazilian National Championship. He also impressed at the Club World Cup when he helped Botafogo create an earthquake to beat PSG, achieving a save rate of over 81%, ranking in the top 5 of the tournament.

Experts believe that John Victor could be a smart signing if MU needs someone to compete with Onana for the starting position, or replace Altay Bayindir. However, adapting to the pressure at Old Trafford is still a big question mark for any new recruit.

Jannik Sinner "speeds" into Wimbledon round 4

Jannik Sinner continued his impressive form at the tournament, having not lost a set in three matches. Against his opponent Pedro Martinez, the Italian player took just 36 minutes to easily close out the first set with a 6-1 victory, thanks to two breaks.

Martinez started to show signs of slight pain at the end of the first set, but still tried to play. In the second set, the Spaniard played harder but still could not stop Sinner from getting two more breaks in games 5 and 9, accepting a 3-6 loss.

Set 3 started with Sinner in complete favor, as he quickly took a 5-0 lead. Although Martinez fought back to win a game of honor and saved two match points, Sinner still easily ended the match in the next game.

In the end, Sinner won after three sets with the scores of 6-1, 6-3 and 6-1, thereby entering the fourth round of Wimbledon without losing too much strength. His next opponent will be the winner of the match between Grigor Dimitrov and Sebastian Ofner.
