Thanh Tien land has existed for a long time and has undergone many divisions and changes in administrative boundaries and names. During the Nguyen Dynasty, from the 7th year of Minh Mang (1826), Thanh Tien commune today belonged to Tien Hoi commune, Cat Ngan commune, Thanh Chuong district, Anh Son prefecture in the past. Here, the Party cell was established quite early on April 4, 1930, named Tien Hoi cell, directly leading the movement to fight against the tyrants and French colonialists in the Soviet-Nghe Tinh high tide and the struggle for power in 1945. The names of people and places such as Ru Chua, Dong Doi forest, Khe Da Hoa Quan... have marked the events of struggle, as well as the pain and loss in the revolutionary movement of the people of Tien Hoi in the past.
After the August Revolution, through two mergers, consolidations and name changes, on March 23, 1954, the Chairman of the Administrative Resistance Committee of Nghe An province decided to divide the commune administrative units and Thanh Tien commune was officially born until today.
Since the establishment of the commune until now, in each historical period with different revolutionary tasks, the Party Committee and people of Thanh Tien have always stood shoulder to shoulder with the entire Party, the entire army, and the entire people of the whole country to carry out many national revolutions. Especially in the resistance war against the US, while providing human and material resources to the battlefield, Thanh Tien was also a key area of bombardment by the US imperialists to cut off the vital route of support to the Southern battlefield from the North. In the face of fierce bombardment by the US imperialists, the people of Thanh Tien were not shaken, and together with the people of neighboring communes, coordinated with the stationed units to fight and shoot down 5 planes, including an F105 plane shot down on the spot, capturing 1 American pilot.
Revolutionary tradition has fostered will, becoming an endogenous strength for the Party Committee and people of Thanh Tien commune to be self-reliant, self-reliant, overcome post-war consequences, and build and develop their homeland to become increasingly prosperous.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, 75 years old, 55 years old in the Party, has participated in the Party, government and mass organizations in the locality for decades, has witnessed the changes in his hometown today, as he said, "a world apart" compared to before. The commune has no households living in thatched houses, instead there are solid tiled roof houses, multi-story houses, Thai-style houses, Japanese-style houses... All roads and paths in the hamlet have been adjusted, expanded, concreted, planted with flowers, trees, electricity, flag roads: bright - green - clean - beautiful; creating a peaceful, civilized and modern rural space and landscape.
Typically, in Giang hamlet, the people and children far from home were mobilized to spend nearly 2 billion VND to complete the infrastructure, meeting the criteria of an advanced new rural area. Mr. Nguyen Huu Dinh - Secretary of the Giang hamlet Party Cell said: Currently, the cultural house has been newly built according to the prescribed institutions, with a playground, outdoor exercise equipment, a mini soccer field, volleyball, and synchronized leather volleyball. The internal traffic system of the hamlet is made of standard concrete, has electric lights, flowers and trees, and is cool and clean.
In 3 years (2021 - 2023), Thanh Tien mobilized nearly 87 billion VND to build advanced new rural areas; in which the internal resources of the people and children far from home, philanthropists contributed nearly 18 billion VND. Currently, 100% of commune roads with more than 12 km are asphalted or concreted, with drainage systems, lighting, and trees. Hamlet, inter-hamlet, and inter-family roads with a concrete ratio of more than 94%, equivalent to more than 37 km; of which 96% of the route with more than 34 km passing through residential areas has lighting, 12 km of trees. The intra-field traffic and irrigation systems have been upgraded to meet the needs of agricultural production towards industrialization and modernization.
Schools at three levels have been invested by the Party Committee and government to upgrade their facilities; improve the quality of comprehensive education, the quality of management staff, teachers, and school employees, etc. Currently, all three schools, kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools, have met national standards; of which the primary school has met level 2 standards.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hung - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Tien Commune said: In the process of building new rural areas and advanced new rural areas, local Party committees and authorities focus on improving the material and spiritual life of the people. Accordingly, in addition to directing intensive investment and improving the production efficiency of traditional crops, the locality focuses on mobilizing people to change the structure of crops and livestock with specialties and high economic value. Such as raising civets, black apple snails, raising deer; growing grapefruit, lotus, squash, luffa for fiber, growing sugarcane for juice, etc.
The locality promotes the development of industry, handicrafts, trades and services. Including brick production; civil carpentry; mechanics; auto and motorbike repair; transportation services; grocery stores; construction materials; beauty salons; fashion clothing... Thanks to that, the average income from 42.8 million VND/person in 2020 increased to 55.67 million VND/person in 2023 and the poverty rate accordingly decreased to 1.8% by the end of 2023.
The spiritual life of the people is also focused on through investment and completion of the system of cultural houses, stadiums, and sports fields from the commune to the hamlets that meet the standards. 7/7 hamlets have playgrounds and outdoor sports and exercise equipment for all ages, meeting the cultural and sports needs of the people. Every year, on holidays and New Year, the locality organizes cultural and sports activities from the hamlet to the commune; organizes and maintains Vi Giam folk song clubs, volleyball clubs, football clubs, folk dance clubs, etc.; contributes to encouraging the movement of vibrant and regular cultural and sports activities among the people.
Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the commune's establishment and receiving the commune's recognition as an advanced new rural commune, each cadre, party member and resident of Thanh Tien is joyful, excited and proud of their contributions and achievements; at the same time, they are more motivated and determined to build their homeland to a higher level of development, focusing first on building a model new rural commune in the period 2025 - 2030.
To realize the above goal, from the lessons of revolutionary leadership and homeland construction and development that have been drawn over the past 70 years, Mr. Nguyen Trong Bay - Party Secretary, Chairman of Thanh Tien Commune People's Council said: Party committees, authorities and the entire political system continue to build a high level of solidarity and unity within the Party and among the masses; "take the people as the root" in all work, promote the people's mastery "people know, people discuss, people do, people inspect"; all work of Party committees, authorities and the political system must originate from the aspirations, rights and legitimate interests of the people...
