Excited about Tet bonus

More than 1 month before the Lunar New Year of Quy Mao 2023, newspapers and social networks have posted a lot of information related to Tet bonuses of enterprises. The good news is that a company with the largest number of workers in Vietnam (130,000 workers) in Ho Chi Minh City, the Tet bonus for workers is 30% higher than last year and the same as before the Covid-19 epidemic. A company in Dong Nai with about 24,000 employees announced the highest bonus of 2.2 months' salary/person for workers who have worked for 12 years or more, for workers who have worked for 1 year but less than 12 years will be rewarded with 1 - 2.1 months' salary/person and organize buses to take workers home for Tet, or support money for workers to buy tickets to go home for Tet. At the same time, many businesses and units are also preparing to announce Tet bonuses for workers in the spirit of "little or much, but there are bonuses"...

However, there will be businesses and units that do not give Tet bonuses to workers because they cannot sign orders. Even dozens of businesses in Binh Duong and some southern provinces do not mention Tet bonuses but also give workers 2 months off for Tet. 2 months off for Tet means no salary, no bonus, many workers are stuck with Tet. Going home early to celebrate Tet or staying to find extra work to earn money for Tet becomes a difficult problem to solve. If you cannot find a job near Tet in the city, it will be even more difficult, and if you go home early, you will not know what to do!

Meanwhile, a year-end survey by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor showed that nearly 59% of workers had no savings and their income dropped to 5.9 million VND instead of 6.7 million VND/month as reported in the third quarter. A survey of thousands of workers in all three regions also showed that if they lost their jobs, 11.7% of workers with savings could last less than a month; 16.7% could last 1-3 months and 12.7% could last more than 3 months. In a related development, tens of thousands of workers in the southern provinces lined up to withdraw their social insurance at once to have money to spend in the coming days.

The above information is in the business sector, but the state-owned enterprises and the education sector in many places also face difficulties in giving Tet bonuses to employees. Typically, many schools in mountainous areas have no other source to give Tet bonuses to teachers, this happened many years ago!
