Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee receives Singaporean Ambassador

(Baonghean.vn) -  In 2023, Vietnam and Singapore will celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations and 10 years of Strategic Partnership.

On the morning of December 5, in Vinh City, Mr. Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party’s Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Delegation of the National People's Congress, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council received Mr. Jaya Ratnam - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam and his delegation.

In 2023, Vietnam and Singapore will celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations and 10 years of Strategic Partnership. Over nearly half a century, the relationship between Vietnam and Singapore has become increasingly close, with high reliability and cooperation between the two countries has obtained many positive results. The two countries have good political relations. Their cooperation is constantly expanding, increasingly in-depth, practical and effective, especially in the field of attracting investment and trade. In the province, there are currently 6 valid foreign direct investment (FDI) projects of Singaporean enterprises with a total registered capital of more than $301.68 million. The total export turnover in 2022 of Nghe An to Singapore market will reach more than $29 million.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Provincial Party Committee Secretary Thai Thanh Quy expressed his pleasure to welcome Mr. Jaya Ratnam and the Singapore Embassy delegation to visit and work in Nghe An. Reviewing the results of cooperation between Nghe An and Singapore, Mr. Quy highly appreciated the effectiveness of Singapore's investment projects in Nghe An, especially the one of VSIP Nghe An Co., Ltd. Following the success of VSIP Nghe An I project, Nghe An province and VSIP are implementing investment procedures for Tho Loc industrial park infrastructure construction and business project phase 1 with a scale of 600ha, investment capital of VND 3,997 billion (VSIP Nghe An II).

Provincial Party Committee Secretary Thai Thanh Quy affirmed that Nghe An always attaches great importance to the friendship and cooperation with Singaporean partners and always identifies the "Lion Island" as an important partner in the province's integration, cooperation and development strategy. Thereby, he wished Mr. Jaya Ratnam to continue to support the province to strengthen cooperation with Singaporean partners on investment and trade; at the same time to share experiences and cooperation in areas where Singapore has strengths such as renewable energy, digital transformation, especially education and health.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam expressed special feelings and good impressions for Nghe An; and believed that the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership between Singapore and Vietnam in 2023 will be an opportunity to develop more effectively the cooperation between the two sides.

Mr. Jaya Ratnam hoped that VSIP Nghe An II project will soon complete the procedures to break ground for the construction of an industrial park in the direction of green, smart and sustainable development; Thereby, the Ambassador also proposed the idea that, at the time of commencement of VSIP Nghe An II, the two sides will coordinate to organize a forum on tourism and culture to promote and introduce Nghe An to Singaporean partners. In the meantime, he committed to supporting and expanding cooperation relationships between the two sides, especially committing to accompanying the province in training, improving the quality and skills of cadres, especially staff in areas of Nghe An's interest such as: Green economy development, sustainable development and digital transformation...

Mr. Quy thanked Mr. Jaya Ratnam for his affection and appreciation for Nghe An; concurred with the Ambassador's proposal to hold a forum in Nghe An. The head of the Provincial Party Committee proposed that the content of the forum is not only limited to the aforementioned areas, but also expand the topics of green economy and global economy; thereby wishing the Ambassador to help connect with Singaporean organizations and partners to hold the forum. In 2023, Nghe An will send a delegation to Singapore to promote investment, trade and tourism; therefore, the head of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee wished to receive the attention, help and presence of the Embassy, especially the Ambassador during these activities of the province.

Mr. Jaya Ratnam affirmed that the Embassy of Singapore in Vietnam always strongly supports and is ready to contribute as a bridge to promote the cooperation between Singapore and Nghe An.
