For the past two weeks, the villagers have not been able to sleep at night. It has been raining all night, and we are afraid that if we close our eyes and fall asleep, the flood will come and we won't be able to run away in time.
The thing is, in early September, after a heavy rain, a huge crack appeared around the village. Mud from the mountain buried several houses in the village. The whole village ran away from their houses in the dark. Luckily, no one was injured.
The crack running across the board actually appeared a few years ago. However, at that time, the crack was only as wide as a chopstick tip, unlike now, where the crack is several hand spans wide in some places.
Because the floods were unpredictable, no one thought to prepare a resettlement area for the people. Therefore, after the incident, people had to build temporary shelters on the roadside, making their lives very precarious.
Commune officials said that the district and commune authorities have surveyed the resettlement site for the villagers. The resettlement site is not far from the old village, but what everyone wants is for the authorities to quickly complete the infrastructure of the resettlement area so that the households can move and stabilize their housing soon. The most frightening thing is that when people do not have a place to resettle, they stay in the old place, and unfortunately when it rains, the village will be buried. And the danger is that the rain and floods often come at night. Therefore, no one in the village dares to sleep.
