Opening of ASEAN Graphic Exhibition 2012

On the afternoon of August 6, at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, a press conference and opening ceremony of the ASEAN graphic art exhibition took place with the participation of fine arts artists from ASEAN countries and Vietnam.

With the idea of ​​organizing art activities connecting countries in the region in many creative and diverse forms, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, the Embassy of Vietnam in ASEAN countries, the Embassies of ASEAN countries in Vietnam have coordinated to organize the Exhibition of graphic paintings of ASEAN countries at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum to celebrate the 45th anniversary of ASEAN (1967-2012).

The ASEAN Graphic Arts Exhibition is an art activity to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. This is an art exchange activity to enhance understanding, friendly cooperation and sharing of the art and culture of ASEAN member countries.

The exhibition will be an opportunity for Vietnamese art lovers to access and enjoy artworks in the graphic art form using different printing techniques on various materials, created in the last 5 years by contemporary artists from ASEAN countries.

Through the exhibition, the exchange and learning within the ASEAN community through the language of art will become truly meaningful, and at the same time be a source of cultural strength contributing to promoting the image of ASEAN.

The 2012 ASEAN Graphic Arts Exhibition with 130 works by 77 artists from 9 countries: Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam introduced to viewers the rich and diverse ASEAN graphic arts.

Fine arts are a part of culture and art, and are also a source of cultural strength that contributes to promoting the image of ASEAN. Therefore, if the ASEAN graphic exhibition is held annually, it will have positive results and enhance the understanding of art as well as connect and share the culture of ASEAN member countries.

Sharing the idea of ​​the first prize winning painting, author Aonrudee Pornchame, 22 years old, a final year art student from Thailand said: “I am very happy and proud to receive the news that I won the first prize in this exhibition competition. In my work, I want to express the very slow automatic state of nature through a semi-abstract state with the aim of conveying my feelings and emotions about the beauty of nature and being liberated from it.”



The painting won first prize at the 2012 Asean Graphic Art Exhibition by Aonrudee Pornchame, 22 years old, from Thailand with the theme "Movement of Nature No. 1"



Author Pham Khac Quang from Vietnam won second prize with his work "Tu Phu"
