The ASEAN Graphic Art Exhibition is an art event celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. It is an artistic exchange activity aimed at enhancing understanding, friendly cooperation, and sharing the artistic and cultural heritage of ASEAN member countries.
The exhibition will be an opportunity for Vietnamese art lovers to experience and appreciate graphic art works created using various printing techniques on different materials, produced over the past five years by contemporary artists from ASEAN countries.
Through this exhibition, the exchange, learning, and interaction within the ASEAN community through the language of art will become truly meaningful, and at the same time, it will be a source of cultural strength contributing to enhancing the image of ASEAN.
The ASEAN Graphic Art Exhibition 2012, featuring 130 works by 77 artists from 9 countries – Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam – showcased the rich and diverse art of ASEAN.
Fine art is a part of cultural arts, and also a source of cultural strength that contributes to enhancing the image of ASEAN. Therefore, if ASEAN graphic art exhibitions were held annually, they would yield positive results and enhance understanding of art as well as connect and share cultures among ASEAN member countries.
Sharing her thoughts on the winning painting, 22-year-old Aonrudee Pornchame, a final-year art student from Thailand, said: “I am very happy and proud to receive the news that I won first prize in this exhibition. In my work, I wanted to express the very slow, automatic state of nature through a semi-abstract style, with the aim of conveying my feelings and emotions about the beauty of nature and its liberation.”

The winning painting at the 2012 ASEAN Graphic Art Exhibition was by 22-year-old Aonrudee Pornchame from Thailand, with the theme "The Movement of Nature No. 1".

Author Pham Khac Quang from Vietnam won second prize with his work "Tu Phu" (Four Realms).
