Opening Ceremony of the Second Hanoi International Film Festival

Last night, at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace, the second Hanoi International Film Festival – an international film event bearing the mark of Vietnam – officially opened.

Earlier, a "Red Carpet" event was held here, welcoming many film stars from Vietnam and around the world. This year, film enthusiasts had the opportunity to meet famous actors from Iranian cinema, a film industry that has consistently surprised the world for over a decade; members of the jury, artists from the Asian Film Promotion Network… Many generations of directors and actors from Vietnamese cinema were also warmly welcomed by the audience.

In his opening remarks, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh stated: The Film Festival is an international cultural event aimed at honoring outstanding cinematic works that are rich in humanistic values ​​and possess high artistic merit. It is an opportunity for domestic and international film artists to expand cultural exchange, share experiences, and contribute to the development of Vietnamese, regional, and international cinema in the new era. At the same time, the Film Festival is also an occasion to honor, introduce, and promote the image of the country, its people, and the cultural identity of Vietnam to the world. At the ceremony, members of the jury were introduced to the audience. Director Jan Schuette – Head of the Feature Film Jury – expressed: The Film Festival is a great opportunity to strengthen exchange and sharing between film industries worldwide. This should be a film industry focused on art, transcending conventional business elements. It is also an opportunity to encourage and inspire the passion of young filmmakers.

Following the opening ceremony, director Le Hoang's film "Hot Sand" was screened, kicking off a series of events at the film festival taking place from now until November 29th in Hanoi. These events include many special film screenings such as films that have won major international film awards, Vietnamese films from the period of national renewal, films about Hanoi, and a focus on Korean films…
