Opening of the 2nd Hanoi International Film Festival

Last night, at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace, the second Hanoi International Film Festival - an international cinema event bearing the Vietnamese mark - officially opened.

Before that, the "Red Carpet" program took place here to welcome many domestic and international movie stars. This year, movie lovers had the opportunity to meet famous actors of Iranian cinema, a cinema that has always surprised the world for over a decade; members of the jury, artists of the Asian Cinema Promotion Network... Many generations of directors and actors of Vietnamese cinema were also warmly welcomed by the audience.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh stated: The Film Festival is an international cultural event to honor outstanding cinematographic works, rich in humanity, and of high artistic value. This is an opportunity for domestic and international cinema artists to expand cultural exchanges and exchange experiences, contributing to the development of Vietnamese, regional and international cinema in the new era. At the same time, the Film Festival is also an opportunity to honor, introduce and promote the image of the country, people and cultural identity of Vietnam to the world. At the ceremony, members of the Jury introduced themselves to the audience. Director Jan Schuette - Head of the Feature Film Jury expressed: The Film Festival is a great opportunity to enhance exchanges and sharing between cinemas around the world. It must be a cinema that is oriented towards art, beyond the usual business factors. This is also an opportunity to encourage and inspire the passion of young filmmakers.

After the opening ceremony, the film "Hot Sand" by director Le Hoang was screened as the opening act, kicking off a series of events at the Film Festival taking place from now until November 29 in Hanoi. Among them are many special film screening programs such as films that have won major international film awards, Vietnamese films during the country's renovation period, films about Hanoi, and Korean films...
