The Lồng Tông festival of the Tay people in Tuyen Quang province has just been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
On the morning of February 22nd, a ceremony was held in Lam Binh district, Tuyen Quang province, to receive the certificate recognizing the "Long Tong Festival of the Tay people" of Tuyen Quang province as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Ms. Dang Thi Bich Lien, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, presented the Certificate of Intangible Cultural Heritage for the Long Tong Festival of the Tay people to Tuyen Quang province and affirmed that the Long Tong Festival and the Then ritual of the Tay people in Tuyen Quang province, being included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage list, have affirmed and honored the value of these two heritages, demonstrating the efforts and contributions of the Party Committee, government, and people of Tuyen Quang in preserving traditional cultural and historical values, revitalizing the appearance of the land of the revolutionary cradle, and opening up many potentials and opportunities for developing tourism economy associated with community culture.

Ms. Dang Thi Bich Lien further stated: The recognition of the Long Tong Festival of the Tay people in Tuyen Quang province as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage is both an honor and a source of pride, but also a challenge in preserving, promoting, and continuing the traditions and cultural values of our ancestors.
The Lồng Tông Festival features many activities such as: the Tịch Điền ceremony (plowing the fields with the meaning of praying for a bountiful harvest year); a cultural program of Then dance and singing performed by artists and students of Thượng Lâm High School; folk games such as: throwing the ball, tug-of-war, stilt walking, playing the "bầm" game, playing the "yến" game, blindfolded duck catching, and modern sports such as: volleyball, tug-of-war… attracting many people from Tuyên Quang province to participate with the hope of a successful year.
