9th Congress of the Nghe An Provincial Association of Literature and Arts

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 27th in Vinh City, the Nghe An Association of Literature and Arts held its 9th Congress for the 2012-2017 term. Attending the opening ceremony were Comrade Do Kim Cuong - Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Associations of Literature and Arts; To Hong Hai – Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee; Chairmen of the Literature and Arts Associations of the provinces of Ha Tinh, Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien-Hue, along with 218 official delegates who are members of the 7 specialized fields of literature and arts in Nghe An.

Prior to the official opening day, the Congress held a preparatory session on the afternoon of June 26th to elect the presidium and secretary, approve the congress regulations, present a summary report on the results of the 8th term, outline the direction of activities for the 9th term, and report on the verification of delegates' credentials...

The opening ceremony began with a spectacular artistic performance by artists and singers who are members of the Association. The opening speech, delivered by Dr. Dinh Tri Dung, chairman of the delegation, outlined the issues facing the upcoming Congress; Comrade Dinh Thanh Quang, Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Literature Association, presented a summary of the activities of the 8th term and the direction for the 9th term (2012-2017).

During the past term, the province's artists and writers have produced many valuable works reflecting various aspects of life, the country, its people, and their homeland, which have been highly appreciated, with many winning national and international awards. The contributions of the artists and writers to the field of literature and art are significant, but there are also many limitations.

Many delegates participated in sincere and frank discussions, pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of the past term, such as allowing the 8th Congress term to extend beyond the stipulated time, and the prolonged internal disunity following the Ho Xuan Huong Literary and Artistic Award. In addition, there were many shortcomings in investment in creative writing, and a lack of fairness in selecting members to participate in writing camps...

Speaking at the Congress, writer Do Kim Cuong emphasized that the current management of literature and art is only at two levels, the central and provincial levels, thus requiring a high level of professionalism. Artists in any field, when creating literary and artistic works, must focus on deeply reflecting the people, their homeland, and the country, protecting independence and maintaining political and ideological stability. This is the duty of the literary and artistic community to the Party and the people.

The congress received guidance from Comrade To Hong Hai and sincere exchanges from writer Phan Trung Hieu - Chairman of the Ha Tinh Association of Literature and Arts.

Following the discussions and speeches by delegates from the central and provincial levels, the congress proceeded with the election of the Executive Committee for the 2012-2017 term, consisting of 15 members. The Executive Committee will then elect the Standing Committee and the President of the association.
