The 9th Congress of Nghe An Provincial Literature and Arts Association

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 27 in Vinh city, Nghe An Literature and Arts Association held its 9th Congress, term 2012-2017. Attending the opening ceremony of the congress were comrade Do Kim Cuong - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations; To Hong Hai - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Chairmen of the Literature and Arts Associations of the provinces: Ha Tinh, Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien-Hue, along with 218 official delegates who are members of 7 Literature and Arts majors of Nghe An.

Before the official opening day, the Congress held a preparatory session on the afternoon of June 26 to elect the presidium and secretary, approve the congress regulations, summarize the results of the 8th term, the direction of activities for the 9th term, and report on the qualification examination of delegates...

The opening ceremony began with a special art program by artists and singers who are members of the Association. The opening speech presented by Dr. Dinh Tri Dung, Chairman of the delegation, outlined the issues raised for the Congress in the next term; Comrade Dinh Thanh Quang, Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Literature Association, briefly reported on the results of the activities of the 8th term and the direction of the 9th term (2012-2017).

During the past term, the provincial artists have had many valuable works reflecting many aspects of life of the country, people, and homeland that have been highly appreciated, many of which have won national and international awards. The contribution of the artists in the field of literature and art is not small, but there are also many limitations.

Many delegates participated in the sincere and frank discussion, pointing out the positive and negative aspects of the past term, such as the fact that the 8th Congress's term was extended beyond the prescribed time, and the internal disunity that persisted after the Ho Xuan Huong Literature and Arts Award. Along with that, there were still many shortcomings in investment in creation, and a lack of fairness in sending members to participate in creation camps...

Speaking at the Congress, writer Do Kim Cuong emphasized that the current management of literature and art only has two levels, the central level and the provincial level, so it requires high professionalism. Artists in any field, when creating literary and artistic works, must focus on deeply reflecting the people of their homeland and country, protecting independence and stabilizing political ideology. That is the task of the team of artists before the Party and the people.

The congress received guidance from comrade To Hong Hai and sincere exchanges from writer Phan Trung Hieu - Chairman of the Ha Tinh Literature and Arts Association.

After the presentations and speeches of the central and provincial delegates, the congress proceeded to elect the Executive Committee for the 2012-2017 term with 15 members. The Executive Committee will elect the Standing Committee and the President of the Association.
