Authorities continue to dismantle drug trafficking hotspots in Ky Son.
(Baonghean.vn) - Recently, the Ky Son District Police have continuously dismantled drug trafficking and trading rings operating from the Lao border to Vietnam. Many notorious criminals, armed with firearms, were ready to resist arrest.
Captain Le Dang Cuong, Head of the Drug Police Team of Ky Son District Police, said that they have just initiated a criminal case, indicted the suspect, arrested and detained Ho Ba Co (born in 1975), residing in Hoi Khe village, Huoi Tu commune, and handed her over to the Provincial Police Detention Center for the crime of illegally trading narcotics. She is a link in a transnational drug trafficking ring, transporting drugs from the Lao border to Vietnam via unofficial routes. On August 20th, Ho Ba Co was caught red-handed by the anti-narcotics force of the Nam Can International Border Gate Border Guard Post while transporting 179 synthetic drug pills and 17.81 grams of narcotics. The suspect and the seized evidence were then handed over to the Ky Son District Police for further investigation.

Captain Cuong stated that, due to its characteristics as a border district, adjacent to many drug-related hotspots in Laos, Ky Son has always been a hotbed of drug activity in Nghe An province. Over the past period, thanks to the efforts of the district's police officers and soldiers, many drug trafficking rings and complex drug hotspots have been dismantled.
In July, through intelligence gathering, drug investigators from the Ky Son District Police discovered that Lo Van Oanh (born in 1976), residing in Luu Kien commune, Tuong Duong district, was suspected of selling drugs retail. Oanh's drug ring originated from the Nam Can border gate area, traveling along Highway 7 to sell to addicts in the lowlands. The Ky Son District Police established Special Case 713K to investigate and clarify the matter. On July 21st, when Oanh had just purchased a batch of heroin in the border area and was transporting it by motorbike to the lowlands, he was ambushed by a task force from the district police in Cau Tam village, Ta Ca commune. Although Oanh recklessly sped away, thanks to the coordinated efforts of the investigators, he was apprehended with 110 grams of heroin, one synthetic drug pill, a motorbike, and a mobile phone used in the heroin trafficking operation.

Notably, Hoanh was found to be carrying a hand grenade. When surrounded by detectives, Hoanh attempted to pull the pin and fight to the death, but using professional techniques, the officers subdued and subdued him, preventing him from throwing the grenade.
