(Baonghean.vn) - To support reforestation efforts, the Yen Thanh Protective Forest Management Board has established a nursery for acacia seedlings on an area of ​​1,500 m2.

Ms. Vo Thi Nhat, a technical officer at the nursery, said: “The nursery is arranged into plots and sections suitable for each stage of seedling cultivation, so each season we can cultivate more than 100,000 acacia seedlings from seeds and 100,000 acacia cuttings. To increase production value and help forest growers earn higher incomes from forestry, we have boldly introduced Australian acacia varieties into production and promptly met the needs of people in the region.”

Soil preparation is one of the important tasks in the process of producing acacia seedlings.

The nursery of the Yen Thanh Protective Forest Management Board has only 10 staff members, but in 2013 it produced over 1.5 million acacia seedlings, all of which were sold. Thanks to its self-sufficiency in acacia seedlings, it not only promptly served the reforestation efforts of the Yen Thanh Protective Forest Management Board (planting 680 hectares of new forest in 2013), but also provided high-quality acacia seedlings to people in neighboring areas.
