Authorities arrest human trafficker who smuggled people into China.
On January 24th, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Tay Ninh Provincial Police arrested five individuals involved in a human trafficking ring that smuggled people into China.
The suspects include Nguyen Phuoc Thanh (born in 1963, residing in Thanh Dong hamlet, Thanh Tan commune, Tay Ninh city, Tay Ninh province), Pham Thi Hong Thuy (born in 1981, residing in Quarter 1, Duong Minh Chau town, Duong Minh Chau district, Tay Ninh province), Nguyen Nhut Tan (born in 1968, residing in Phuoc Long 2 hamlet, Phan commune, Duong Minh Chau district), Pham Cao Quy (born in 1969) and Nguyen Thi Nhung (born in 1971), both residing in Quarter 4, Duong Minh Chau town, Tay Ninh province.
Earlier, at 8:00 AM on January 23rd, at Tan Son Nhat Airport, Ho Chi Minh City, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Tay Ninh Provincial Police caught three individuals red-handed while they were processing exit procedures for five girls to be sold to China. The suspects were Nguyen Ngoc Tho (born in 1981, residing in Quarter 4, Duong Minh Chau Town, Tay Ninh Province), Ho Thi Kim Hien (born in 1965, residing in Hamlet 7, Loc Hoa Commune, Loc Ninh District, Binh Phuoc Province), and Nguyen Thi Lien (born in 1953, residing in Phuoc Hoa Hamlet, Suoi Da Commune, Duong Minh Chau District, Tay Ninh Province).
Authorities rescued five girls (two from Binh Phuoc province and three from Tay Ninh province) from human traffickers. Seized items included seven passports, three identity cards, five airline tickets, one visa, and other related evidence.
According to initial investigations, in 2011, an individual seeking Vietnamese women to sell to Chinese men as wives contacted and connected with individuals named Tho, Hien, Lien, Thanh, Thuy, Tan, Quy, and Nhung to find naive girls who desired a life of wealth. Each girl introduced would receive a commission of 3 to 10 million VND from the ringleader. For each girl successfully trafficked to China, they would profit illegally from 90 to 120 million VND.
To date, 15 girls have been trafficked to China, 10 of whom were successfully trafficked, while 5 were arrested while undergoing the necessary procedures.
