Taking care of the lives of workers.
(Baonghean) - With its large workforce, Haivina Kim Lien Co., Ltd. has implemented numerous measures to create the best possible working conditions for its employees. This is a key factor in the company's continuous development and its growing position and reputation in the field of foreign investment in Nghe An.
Haivina Kim Lien Co., Ltd. (Nam Dan) is a company with 100% South Korean investment, a major player in the garment export sector in the province. Construction of the factory began in December 2010 and was completed and put into operation in October 2011. Located in Nam Giang commune (Nam Dan district) on an area of 5 hectares with an investment of 140 billion VND, the company currently employs nearly 3,000 workers, 90% of whom are residents of Nam Dan district. The company's specialty products are sports gloves, sports accessories, and sportswear, all exported to the US and EU markets, hence the investment in modern and integrated technology and equipment.

In 2013, despite being a new company and facing many difficulties, it achieved significant results. The company's production reached 3,200,000 pairs of gloves and 900,000 pieces of clothing. The plan for 2014 was to produce 4,200,000 pairs of gloves and 1,050,000 pieces of clothing. To achieve these results, one of the measures the company implemented was creating the best possible working conditions for its employees. Currently, the average income of employees ranges from 2.7 to 3.5 million VND. In the first month, employees receive up to 70% of their salary, and if they become proficient in their work by the second month, they receive 100% of their salary. In addition, each worker is provided with a lunch meal worth 19,500 VND. The company has contracted with a top-tier Korean catering company to ensure nutrition and food safety for its workers. Mr. Le Thanh Tinh, Head of the General Affairs Department of the company, stated: "The income of our employees is quite high compared to the current average, and we strive for an average income of 4 million VND per person per month."
While many workers in rural areas are increasingly moving to industrial parks and export processing zones in the southern provinces, retaining workers remains a top priority for Haivina Kim Lien Co., Ltd. The company has implemented several measures to provide workers with the best possible working environment. Currently, the company provides all workers with raincoats, helmets, winter and summer clothing, and slippers. Medical first-aid kits are placed in all workshops to care for the health of employees. For pregnant workers and those with children under one year old, the company allows them to leave work one hour early to help them maintain their health and care for their families. Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, a worker in the garment sewing department with a 9-month-old child, said: "Because I have a young child, the company prioritizes me by allowing me to work only 7 hours and leave early. This gives me the opportunity to care for and educate my child."
Besides implementing good labor practices, the company also organizes many meaningful cultural and sports activities for its workers to participate in. Every Tuesday and Thursday, workers are given 10 minutes each morning for exercise. On Fridays, the company arranges for workers to rest, meditate, and listen to music to create a relaxed and positive atmosphere after work. Furthermore, many cultural activities such as parties, beauty contests, and singing competitions with valuable prizes have been successfully organized by the company, leaving a positive impression on the workers. In 2013, the company allocated 400 million VND to build five charitable houses, each worth 80 million VND, for five disadvantaged families in Hung Nguyen and Nam Dan districts.
With the goal of building a healthy and civilized production environment, every worker undergoes a training course on workplace environment and customer requirements before joining the company. Loud arguments between workers and company staff are strictly prohibited. Regarding the quality of the workforce, Mr. Kim Chul Ho, Production Director of the company, stated: Before investing in Nghe An, the company conducted surveys in many localities nationwide and found that Nghe An, specifically Nam Dan district, has an abundant and skilled workforce. During operation, the quality of the workforce has continuously improved due to the workers' diligence in learning and quickly grasping knowledge and techniques. However, the company strongly desires healthy competition among its workers, as this is essential for the company's continued growth.
The initial success of Havina Kim Lien Co., Ltd. lies in building trust among its employees. In the current situation, where many businesses in the textile and garment industry are facing a labor shortage, Havina Kim Lien has recruited thousands of workers in a very short time. Currently, the company is building another production plant and will employ approximately 500 workers. Although the technical infrastructure of the Nam Giang Industrial Cluster is not yet fully developed, the favorable start of Havina Kim Lien Co., Ltd. will create significant momentum in attracting investors to the Nam Giang Industrial Cluster.
