Field workshop on Hoa Khoi 4 pure rice variety

(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of May 16th, in Tan Son commune, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Do Luong district, in coordination with An Viet International Agriculture Joint Stock Company, organized a field workshop on the Hoa Khoi 4 pure rice variety.

Hoa Khoi 4 is a pure rice variety researched and selected by An Viet Agricultural Joint Stock Company and has been in production nationwide for the past 3 years. This rice variety has the advantage of a short growing season, allowing for two crops per year: 125-130 days for the spring crop and 95-105 days for the summer-autumn crop. The seeds germinate strongly and evenly, with 4-5 effective tillers per clump. The plants are compact, sturdy, and 95-105 cm tall. During growth, they exhibit good drought, cold, and lodging resistance, and are resistant to many pests and diseases. The panicles are long, the grains are uniform, the percentage of empty grains is low, and the cooked rice is fragrant and sticky. The average yield in the spring crop is 68 quintals/hectare, and with good care, it can reach up to 85 quintals/hectare.

In Tan Son commune, this spring, the Hoa Khoi 4 pure rice variety was tested on 5 hectares in Hamlet 1. During the production process, An Viet Agricultural Joint Stock Company, together with the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Tan Son commune, organized guidance for the people to follow the correct procedures. To date, this rice variety has demonstrated its superior capabilities, with a yield of 68 quintals/hectare.

At the workshop, delegates and households participating in the production model highly appreciated the advantages of Hoa Khoi 4 rice variety, and also stated that this rice variety can be grown in the spring and summer-autumn seasons to gradually replace Khang Dan 18 rice in the future, thereby increasing agricultural production efficiency for farmers.
