Field workshop on purebred rice varieties Hoa Khoi 4

(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of May 16, in Tan Son commune, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Do Luong district coordinated with An Viet International Agriculture Joint Stock Company to organize a field workshop on the purebred rice variety Hoa Khoi 4.

Hoa Khoi 4 is a purebred rice variety researched and selected by An Viet Agriculture Joint Stock Company and has been put into production nationwide for 3 years now. This rice variety has the advantage of a short growing period, can be planted 2 crops a year, spring crop from 125 - 130 days, summer-autumn crop from 95 - 105 days. Seeds germinate strongly and evenly, leaving effective branches from 4 - 5 shoots/clump, compact, hard plants, height 95 - 105 cm, during the growth process it has the ability to resist drought, cold and lodging well, resistant to many types of pests and diseases, long panicles, even grains, low rate of empty grains, fragrant and sticky rice, average yield in spring crop reaches 68 quintals/ha, if well fertilized can reach 85 quintals/ha.

In Tan Son commune, in this spring crop, the purebred rice variety Hoa Khoi 4 was tested on 5 hectares in hamlet 1. During the production process, An Viet Agricultural Joint Stock Company, together with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the district and Tan Son commune, organized instructions for people to follow the correct procedures. Up to now, this rice variety has demonstrated its superior capabilities, with a yield of 68 quintals/ha.

At the workshop, delegates and households participating in the production model all highly appreciated the advantages of Hoa Khoi 4 rice variety, and believed that this rice variety would not only be grown in the spring crop and sown in the summer-autumn crop to gradually replace Khang Dan 18 rice variety in the coming time to increase agricultural production efficiency for farmers.
