Microwave ovens are a popular household appliance because of their convenience. However, not all types of food can be used by housewives.

1. Eggs

When you put an egg in the microwave, you will create an explosion because the temperature of the solution inside the egg increases, the hot air has no place to escape, so the egg will explode.

If you still want to use the microwave to cook eggs, before putting them in the microwave, you can crack the egg, put it in a heat-resistant container, use a fork to poke the yolk to let the steam escape, and cover it with plastic wrap (the kind used for microwaves).

2. Fruit

You should not put fruit in the microwave because high temperatures will cause the fruit to lose nutrients necessary for the body. In particular, you should not put grapes in the microwave, whether fresh grapes or raisins, because the grapes will explode and release a lot of plasma gas that will damage the oven.

3. Carrots

Carrots contain iron, magnesium and selenium. So if you put carrots in the microwave, they will quickly turn into flames with many colors of green, red, yellow and damage the oven.

4. Chili

Chili peppers are also not the ideal food to put in the microwave. The high temperature in the microwave will cause the spicy compound capsaicin to evaporate and escape, causing irritation to the eyes and throat when exposed, even making you tear up, causing a very uncomfortable feeling.

5. Frozen food

Putting frozen food in the microwave is a bad idea, it makes you waste time waiting and is ineffective. Therefore, you should choose the method of defrosting frozen food by soaking it in salt water, then using the microwave to process it later.

6. Special vegetables

Some dense vegetables such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, zucchini, etc. should not be put in the microwave because they will explode. You can use chopsticks or a fork to poke holes in the vegetable before putting it in the microwave.

7. Bread

When you put bread in the microwave, it will dry out and become hard to swallow. The bread will quickly lose its dough consistency and will no longer taste good. Therefore, if you want to reheat bread, it is best to put it in the oven.

8. Water

Never think of boiling water in a microwave because it is extremely dangerous. Microwaves heat water but do not form bubbles during the heating process. Therefore, when you take the water out of the microwave, the bubbles will burst and can splash into your eyes and cause burns.

If you still intend to boil water in the microwave, you can put a wooden stirrer in the cup of water and when the cup of water boils, open the microwave door, let it sit for a while and then take the cup of water out.

9. Shellfish

When you microwave shellfish such as shrimp, crab, clams, etc., they will smell like rubber. When the dish is cooked, it will no longer have all the nutrients and the delicious taste of the seafood.

10. Tomato sauce

Although putting tomato sauce in the microwave is not as dangerous as other foods, hot sauce can easily splatter and make a mess in the microwave. To avoid this, you can cover the sauce dish with wax paper to keep the microwave clean.

11. Wine and champagne

You should not put drinks such as wine, champagne, etc. in the microwave because they can easily cause an explosion, damage the oven, and burn food.
