Assessment and recognition of Quynh Doi commune as meeting the standards of a new rural area.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 16th,Evaluation CouncilThe Steering Committee for the New Rural Development Program of Nghe An province conducted a review, inspection, and evaluation of the implementation criteria in the national target programs for new rural development in Quynh Doi commune (Quynh Luu district). The assessment was conducted by Mr. Ho Ngoc Sy - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Head of the Steering Committee for the New Rural Development Program, along with other members of the Provincial Steering Committee for New Rural Development.

Quynh Doi is one of the pilot communes in Quynh Luu district striving to complete the new rural development program in 2014 and has now completed 19 criteria. To achieve recognition for these criteria, after three years of effort by the Party committee, government, mass organizations, and the people, many results have been achieved in building a new rural area.

From 2012 to the present, Quynh Doi has invested in infrastructure development to serve socio-economic needs, ensure people's livelihoods, and complete the New Rural Development program. Currently, the poverty rate is only 2.6%; the commune has two schools that meet national standards. The rate of universal education at all levels reaches 100%; the rate of trained laborers in the commune reaches 50%. Quynh Doi commune has been recognized as a commune meeting the health standards for phase 2.

The commune has 8 out of 8 villages recognized as cultural villages. The commune has been recognized as a cultural commune for many consecutive years. To date, 100% of households in the commune have access to clean water. Environmental hygiene in production and business areas and residential areas is ensured; there are no production facilities causing environmental pollution; 100% of households have all three standard sanitation facilities. The commune has a sanitation team that regularly collects waste. All 8 villages have community centers; cemeteries are built according to plan. The political and social systems all meet standards...

After conducting a field survey in the area, the council met to evaluate and review each criterion that had been met and the areas that needed improvement.

As a result, the members of the provincial appraisal council agreed that Quynh Doi commune met the standards for a New Rural Area. Based on this result, the appraisal council will propose to the Provincial People's Committee to issue a decision recognizing Quynh Doi commune as a New Rural Area. In addition, the appraisal council requested Quynh Luu district and Quynh Doi commune to complete several projects to move towards building a model New Rural Area commune of the province.
