At this time, Mr. Nguyen Tho Chien in Hamlet 4, Xuan Son Commune (Do Luong) and his family are completing the land preparation in the rice field to plant spring vegetables. Talking to us, Mr. Chien said: the yield of vegetables on rice land is 3-4 times higher than that of rice, and the Prex Vinh Garment Company and Do Luong Market Trade Center have committed to purchasing all of the products. Thanks to that, in the spring of 2015, after completing the land consolidation, he converted 1.5 hectares of rice land to specialized vegetable cultivation, invested hundreds of millions of dong in building barbed wire embankments, drilling irrigation wells in the fields, and developing a comprehensive economic model to increase the value of crops.

Xuan Son commune currently has over 310 hectares of double-rice land. After completing the land consolidation, the average agricultural land has decreased from 5 plots/household to 1.75 plots/household. The whole commune has built 8.5 km of concrete canals within the fields to bring water to the fields and plots. Cars carrying raw materials and mechanized machinery can easily get to the fields. Mr. Nguyen Viet The - Chairman of Xuan Son commune People's Committee, said: The commune's goal in the spring crop of 2015 is to comprehensively intensify farming by converting some effective models on double-rice land. The commune directs people to "share land" to form inter-household production groups, an average of 10 groups/hamlet and 1.5 hectares/field to produce high-quality rice, from there to build large-scale fields. The commune converts some rice production models to specialized crop cultivation, developing family farms on double-rice land in the direction of goods.
Every year, Van Son commune produces nearly 100 tons of rice seeds for sale to the market. Entering the spring crop of 2015, internal traffic and irrigation were upgraded, so Van Son commune converted the hybrid rice area to grow high-quality AC5 rice, reaching 210 hectares/340 hectares, an increase of 40 hectares compared to the previous year. Mr. Nguyen Dang Ha - Chairman of Van Son Cooperative, said: Actual production shows that AC5 rice has a yield of 7 tons/ha, sold to the market at 10,000 VND/kg, higher than previous pure rice varieties (6,000 VND/kg), so if producing rice seeds, people can earn 70 million VND/ha, nearly 2 times higher than pure rice production (42 million VND/ha). Currently, the Cooperative is carrying out a contract with Nghe An Agricultural Materials Joint Stock Company to purchase rice seeds for members.
Entering the 2015 spring crop production, Do Luong district completed the land consolidation, with an average land use of 1.7 - 2 plots/household, facilitating the process of mechanization in the fields, intensive cultivation, and increased income. As of November 25, the whole district had mobilized over 540,000 working days, digging and filling 3.5 million cubic meters of soil to build internal roads, and repairing 22,000 meters of concrete ditches, contributing to the exploitation and mobilization of poor land areas, which previously did not have a proactive source of irrigation water. The Khe Chuoi dam project in Dai Son commune was upgraded, ensuring irrigation for nearly 100 hectares of rice. However, this year's spring crop production is also the time to transfer production sites after land consolidation, so people have spent a lot of effort on leveling the ground, building internal roads, embankments, and embankments. At the same time, according to the report of the Do Luong District Irrigation Enterprise, currently 2/3 of the reservoirs in the district have water flow reaching less than 50% of the design water level. Rainfall is expected to be lower than the average of many previous years, leading to the risk of drought...
From the above advantages and difficulties, in the spring crop of 2015, Do Luong district has set specific goals. Based on the production conditions of each region, arrange the crop structure and reasonable season, ensuring crop safety; direct people to focus on investing in comprehensive intensive farming from the process of sowing, preparing the land to transplanting on schedule; change the crop structure, especially in difficult areas to improve production efficiency, expand the area of large-scale fields to affirm the advantage of goods in the market.
Mr. Le Anh Son - Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture of Do Luong district said: Spring crop is the main crop, determining over 60% of the year's agricultural output and income. In the 2015 spring crop production plan, the district arranged the rice planting schedule from January 15 to February 15, 5-7 days later than previous years to avoid the risk of late-season cold affecting productivity. The district's viewpoint is to only include recognized varieties with high yield and good rice quality such as AC5, Nhi Uu 986, Nhi Uu 986, minimizing poor quality varieties. For corn varieties, priority is given to potential varieties such as NK66, B.06, NK6654 and glutinous corn varieties, each commune arranges no more than 3 hybrid corn varieties and 2 glutinous corn varieties. The Nghe An lotus peanut variety, L14, is also focused on being included in the main structure... For flood-prone areas such as Hien Son, Quang Son, Thai Son, production is implemented 7 days earlier than the general schedule of the district. The district encourages the expansion of rice seed production area in Van Son, Yen Son, Thinh Son communes, with a scale of 120 - 150 hectares/crop. Currently, the district has contacted and invited units such as Bac Ninh and Bac Giang Seed Joint Stock Company, Central Seed Joint Stock Company 1, Thai Binh Seed Joint Stock Corporation to supply seeds, support product consumption for people at a price 1.4 times higher than the market price.
This spring crop, the entire Do Luong district restructured over 7,700 hectares of rice, 831 hectares of corn, over 1,100 hectares of peanuts and hundreds of hectares of various vegetables and beans. Compared to previous years, the rice area decreased by nearly 300 hectares (due to the mobilization of rice fields to build embankments, field embankments and internal traffic), the peanut and corn area increased a lot on the converted rice land and ineffective colored land. Currently, 80% of the winter vegetable area on rice land is being harvested by farmers to sell to the market. Although the implementation was carried out under the condition of having just completed land consolidation, most localities ensured the production progress. According to the schedule, by December 20, farmers will complete the winter crop harvest on rice land. Many localities, after harvesting winter vegetables on rice land, have proactively mobilized machinery and vehicles to plow the land, preparing to sow the new crop. Many communes have invested in building combined farm models on rice fields, typically Hien Son, Xuan Son, Minh Son, Giang Son Dong. The whole district is striving to start mass land preparation by the end of December, and will officially start sowing spring rice seedlings around the beginning of January 2015.
