Promote propaganda and promotion of "The Tale of Kieu"

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued Decision No. 3897/QD-BVHTTDL approving the content of the Project to propagate and promote the work "Truyen Kieu" by the great poet Nguyen Du.

Accordingly, the work "Truyen Kieu" will be promoted through performing arts, especially traditional Vietnamese art forms that have been recognized by UNESCO as cultural heritage of humanity.

In parallel with the above activities, "Truyen Kieu" is also introduced in other forms such as book exhibitions, calligraphy, publications; popularizing audio and video recordings of performing arts based on the content of this work.

Along with the 250th anniversary of the birth of the great poet Nguyen Du within the framework of cultural activities in 2015, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will continue to promote the work "Truyen Kieu" to affirm the merits, talent and honor the special contributions of Nguyen Du to Vietnamese culture and humanity in the following years.

This is the first time Nguyen Du's masterpiece "Truyen Kieu" has been promoted in many forms with new perspectives. This is also an activity that contributes to educating traditions, enhancing aesthetic perception and national pride, especially for the younger generation; actively preserving, promoting and exploiting heritage values, honoring the history and culture of the nation, the quintessence of classical Vietnamese literature; helping people and international friends have the opportunity to better understand a long-standing culture with strong national identity, the soul of a great nation, and a land of outstanding people.

Regarding the project's objectives, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will organize the transcription and setting of song lyrics from the content of the work "Truyen Kieu" based on folk melodies, songs, folk performances and traditional puppet shows.

The works will include unique art forms and art forms that have been recognized by UNESCO as cultural heritage of humanity such as: cheo, cai luong, folk songs, Nghe Tinh folk songs, quan ho folk songs, bai choi folk songs, ca tru, hat van, hat xam... The art council will advise, advise on improving the quality of art and evaluate all programs, works, and repertoires before performing, disseminating, promoting, and advertising the works to the public.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the implementation of the Project to promote and publicize "The Tale of Kieu" will contribute to creating new works and cultural values ​​to enrich the nation's cultural heritage; at the same time, create opportunities to promote to the world the unique features and values ​​of Vietnam's cultural heritage; help the Vietnamese people and the international community better understand, love and appreciate the masterpiece "The Tale of Kieu".

The budget for implementing the Project to propagate and promote "Truyen Kieu" by Great Poet Nguyen Du from the state budget allocated to the Department of Performing Arts was approved by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism./
