The case was secretly investigated, but it was not until last October that police were able to arrest the five players, after detectives discovered a huge amount of money in their bank accounts, originating from match-fixing bosses in Southeast Asia.

The prosecutor asked the court to sentence all five players to life in prison.

The trial will continue today (November 10). The judge will decide whether the five players should remain in custody or be released on bail./.
