Buddhist monks, nuns, and followers in Nghe An go to the polls.
(Baonghena.vn) - Along with people nationwide, on the morning of May 22nd, Buddhist monks, nuns, and followers in Nghe An province enthusiastically went to the polls to elect representatives to the 14th National Assembly and representatives to the People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 term.

Currently, in Nghe An province, there are 35 monks and nuns serving the religion, and over 45,000 Buddhist followers. With the motto "Connecting religion with life," the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Nghe An province and the abbots of the temples have actively propagated, mobilized, guided, and reminded believers to implement the provisions of the Law on Election of National Assembly Deputies and People's Council Deputies at all levels for the 2011-2021 term.
Through the activities of the Executive Board, most Buddhist followers in the province are enthusiastic and confident in the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State; they have a clearer understanding of the significance of the election and the rights and obligations of each citizen on the day of nationwide voting.

In this election for People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 term, three religious dignitaries in the province are running for election to the Provincial and District People's Councils: Venerable Nun Thich Nu Dieu Nhan, Deputy Head of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Nghe An Province and abbess of Can Linh Pagoda, running for election to the Provincial People's Council; and Venerable Thich Tue Minh, Venerable Thich Tue Quang (Chi Linh Pagoda, Yen Thanh District) and Venerable Thich Dong Tue (Ha Pagoda, Nam Dan District), running for election to the District People's Council.
The candidates running for the Provincial and District People's Councils for the 2016-2021 term are respected religious leaders and followers; they possess a high sense of responsibility regarding their rights and obligations when running for office. Therefore, the nomination of these individuals has created a high level of consensus between the government and religious organizations, and has received support and approval from the general public and followers of various religions.
