- Hello teacher Vo Thi Hanh! Belonging to the 8X generation, a student of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, won second prize in the National Excellent Student in History, and was admitted directly to university…; what made you choose the teaching environment instead of any other attractive profession?
- My generation and the current generation often like professions such as law, economics, diplomacy. However, for me, since my time studying at Phan school, with the careful teaching and guidance of teachers, I have loved the teaching profession immensely and dreamed that in the future I would be like my teachers... Besides, I think that choosing the teaching profession is a suitable choice for me with the desire to contribute to the career of educating people.
- “A teacher is not someone who stuffs knowledge, but rather someone who lights a fire in the soul.” For a long time, the subject of History in schools has been facing difficulties; there was even a proposal to “integrate History” into another subject… How did you “keep the fire” for yourself and your students about the love of History?
- The most important thing is to have passion for the profession and a love for children. As a History teacher, I understand the reasons why students are no longer interested in History as before; so I have to try to inspire and create passion for the subject in them. Linking the transmission of knowledge with arousing love for the homeland and national pride; in the teaching process, try to innovate methods and ways of organizing learning to make History more attractive and interesting with historical games, historical identification, historical crossword puzzles... Then, from the understanding of history, help students connect with reality in a vivid way...
- Not yet 30 years old, but you have done something surprising at the Provincial Excellent Teacher Competition for Secondary School in 2016 with First Prize. Can you share your secret and what message do you have for young people who are planning to pursue a career in teaching?
- To achieve that success, I received a lot of support from my colleagues, the City Department of Education, my family members and my former teachers. Their sincere comments and professional support were the motivation for me to confidently enter the competition and complete my exam well...
I hope that, for all of you who are pursuing the teaching profession, first of all, pursue your choice with the passion and enthusiasm of youth, with boundless love for your students. Do not have high expectations for this job because for a teacher, happiness cannot be measured by money. The greatest happiness is when you see your students grow up and mature, and each of us will feel proud to have contributed to honoring the teaching profession, “the noblest of all noble professions”…
- Thanks for the chat!
