Eye diseases in children are on the rise.
On October 4th, a rally commemorating World Sight Day (October 13th) with the theme "Bright Eyes for Children" was held in Hanoi.
According to Ms. Vu Thi Thanh, Director of Hanoi Eye Hospital, eye diseases in children such as strabismus, ptosis, amblyopia, refractive errors, etc., are increasing, especially in large cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. In Hanoi alone, there are approximately 500,000 students with refractive errors, of which up to 75% are myopia.
The reasons for the increase in the number of students with refractive errors and nearsightedness in schools are due to poorly lit learning environments, desks and chairs that are not the appropriate height, incorrect reading posture, and watching television from too close a distance.
