Eye diseases in children increase
On October 4, a rally to celebrate World Sight Day (October 13) with the theme “Bright eyes for children” was held in Hanoi.
According to Ms. Vu Thi Thanh, Director of Hanoi Eye Hospital, eye diseases in children such as strabismus, ptosis, amblyopia, refractive errors... are increasing, especially in big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. In Hanoi alone, there are about 500,000 students with refractive errors, of which 75% are nearsighted.
The reason for the increase in the number of students with refractive errors and myopia in school is due to the lack of light in the learning environment, desks and chairs of inappropriate height, incorrect reading posture, and watching television at too close a distance.
