With the meaning of reducing traffic congestion and increasing traffic volume for the arterial road, the route is currently being directed by the People's Committee of Nghe An province to the Department of Transport and contractors to speed up the progress.

The project to upgrade and expand National Highway 1A through Nghe An was divided into 5 packages and assigned to 4 investors, namely Project Management Board 4, Project Management Board 1, Project Management Board 85 and Project Management Board of Nghe An Department of Transport as investors. According to the approval decision of the Ministry of Transport, the project started in 2010 and was completed in June 2012. However, due to the site being blocked on the old route through the residential area, the project is behind schedule. Currently, contractors are speeding up progress at the new openings.
