Song Lam Nghe An won the 2011 National Super Cup

Attending and encouraging the players were President of Vietnam Football Federation - Nguyen Trong Hy, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong newspaper Doan Cong Huynh (co-Head of the 2011 National Super Cup Organizing Committee), on the side of Nghe An province leaders were comrades: Nguyen Xuan Duong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee along with leaders of departments, branches and thousands of fans.

The National Super Cup is a match between the reigning national champion (V.League) and the team that won the National Cup every year. At the initiative of Tien Phong Newspaper, it was included in the annual national competition program by the Vietnam Football Federation for the first time in 1999, and is now in its 13th year.

After the opening speech of the tournament by the Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, the leaders of the Vietnam Football Federation and Nghe An province went down to the field to present flowers and encourage the players of both teams.

After the opening whistle, both teams entered the match with high determination, but it was not until the 53rd minute that SLNA opened the scoring thanks to Hong Viet. In the 63rd minute, Navibank.Sai Gon unexpectedly equalized with Duoc Em after a lackluster clearance by goalkeeper Viet Nam. In addition to the two goals scored, both teams' players also missed many scoring opportunities.

After 90 minutes of exciting and thrilling competition, the two teams tied with a score of 1-1. SLNA and Navibank.Sai Gon had to enter a series of risky 11m kicks to determine the winner. With excellent fighting spirit, SLNA players won 3-1 on penalties, thereby winning the 2011 National Super Cup in the indescribable joy of many Nghe An fans present at Vinh Stadium. This is also the 4th time that SLNA team has won the National Super Cup.

At the end of the match, the Organizing Committee awarded the Cup, Gold Medal, and 200 million VND in prize money to SLNA; Navibank.Sai Gon team received the Silver Medal and 100 million VND. Player Hong Viet (SLNA) received the prize for the first goal scorer of the match, player Vincent (Navibank.Sai Gon) received the prize for the best player of the match.
