Heartbroken for the abandoned lives

(Baonghean) - Nguyen Thi Khoa is the name that the "parents" - the collective of doctors of the Obstetrics Department of Nghe An General Hospital gave when they learned that the baby was abandoned at the hospital by her mother, who was about 25-26 years old. Thirsty for milk, crying hoarsely, the baby was carried from room to room by the doctors to beg for milk. After eating, the baby fell asleep soundly, and when she woke up, the mothers carried her to beg for milk. It has been more than 3 months since she was born, and she has been raised in the Pediatric Nursing Department. Up to now, the baby weighs 5.2 kg, has white skin, and big, round, innocent, and active eyes that make anyone who meets her feel touched and love her. Just like Khoa, 1.5-month-old baby Nguyen Van Toan was abandoned by his mother when he was less than 2 days old. At birth, the baby weighed 3.8 kg, was completely healthy, and now he weighs 5 kg. The baby has dark skin, is cute and very adorable. The mothers here love the babies like their own.

Khoa and Toan are raised at the Obstetrics Department, General Hospital.

Khoa and Toan were two children abandoned at Nghe An General Hospital in the first months of 2012. Although the hospital had announced on the mass media to find relatives for the children, so far no one has come to claim them. Every day, doctors at Nghe An General Hospital assign 1 doctor and 7 midwives to take turns taking care of the children. Without their parents by their side, the children's lives depend on the hospital's meager funds and the loving hearts of the medical staff at Nghe An General Hospital. For the long-term happiness of the children, the doctors here hope that one day Khoa and Toan will be returned by those cruel mothers, who will hold them in their arms and rekindle their mother-child relationship. Or at least, the children will be adopted into well-off, warm families so that they can live happily and comfortably, and grow up without feeling inferior about their lives.

Doctor Pham Gia Canh - Deputy Head of Obstetrics Department, Nghe An General Hospital said: In 2011, the Department received 2 abandoned babies. One baby was later adopted by a resident in Yen Thanh district, the other was born prematurely and had poor health, so even though he was just born, he was forever separated from his mother. In the first 3 months of this year, two healthy babies, Khoa and Toan, were also left at the hospital, lacking the warmth and love of their parents. Doctors took care of them, named them and announced them on the mass media. They contacted the Hung Dung ward police to find the origin and family of the babies, but so far there has been no news. Most of the babies' mothers are between 20 and 26 years old, came to the hospital alone, and left after giving birth, leaving the babies behind. Not only were they abandoned at hospitals, but many were also abandoned in fields, in trash cans, in front of temple gates... The Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Dien Chau district said: In March 2012, a resident of Dien Ky commune discovered two children, a boy and a girl, about 10 days old, abandoned in the village. Later, one child was adopted by a resident of Dien Ngoc commune, and the other child was taken care of by a family in Dien Ky commune.

Abandoned newborns are quite common in our province in particular and the whole country in general. This will create unpredictable consequences affecting the quality of the breed and the quality of human resources in the future. Society is also suffering the consequences of abandoned newborns.
