Posthumously awarding the Gold Star Order to Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang

On the morning of April 15, in Tien Phuoc district (Quang Nam), on behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Truong Tan Sang presented the Gold Star Order to Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang through his family members.

The Gold Star Order is a noble award of the Party and State, a recognition and gratitude for the great contributions of Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang to the nation and country.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Truong Tan Sang affirmed: “Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang is a typical figure of the patriotic movement in the early 20th century, of the same generation as the patriots Phan Boi Chau and Phan Chau Trinh, and a classmate of Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac, the father of President Ho Chi Minh. His life is a shining example of the tradition of overcoming difficulties, loving to learn, of a noble and simple lifestyle, a life devoted to the country and the people.”

The President also mentioned Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang, the founder and editor of the newspaper Tiếng Dân, a symbol of the Vietnam National Union, and then acting president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam when President Ho Chi Minh was on a long business trip abroad. Especially the Duy Tan movement "enlightening the people, strengthening the people's spirit, improving the people's lives", arousing a widespread patriotic movement from North to South, culminating in the anti-tax movement in Central Vietnam that shook the ruling apparatus of the French colonialists.

The President emphasized: “The life of activities, noble personality, talent and virtue of the cultural figure, patriot, and acting President Huynh Thuc Khang is a shining example for present and future generations to learn and follow.”

On the afternoon of April 15, the President's delegation visited residents on Ly Son Island.
