Posthumously awarding the Gold Star Order to Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang.
On the morning of April 15th, in Tien Phuoc district (Quang Nam province), on behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Truong Tan Sang presented the Gold Star Order to Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang through a family member.
The Gold Star Order is a prestigious award from the Party and the State, a recognition and appreciation of the immense contributions of Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang to the nation and the country.
President Truong Tan Sang offers incense in commemoration of Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Truong Tan Sang affirmed: “Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang was a representative figure of the patriotic movement in the early 20th century, belonging to the same generation as the patriots Phan Boi Chau and Phan Chau Trinh, and a classmate of Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac, the father of President Ho Chi Minh. His life is a shining example of overcoming difficulties, a love of learning, a noble and simple lifestyle, and a life dedicated to the country and its people.”
The President also mentioned Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang, the founder and editor-in-chief of the newspaper Tieng Dan, a symbol of the Vietnam National Union, and then the acting president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam when President Ho Chi Minh was away on long trips abroad. Particularly noteworthy was the Duy Tan movement, which aimed to "enlighten the people, uplift their spirit, and improve their lives," sparking a widespread patriotic movement from North to South, culminating in the anti-tax movement in Central Vietnam that shook the French colonial regime.
The President emphasized: "The life, noble character, talent, and virtue of the cultural figure, patriotic scholar, and acting President Huynh Thuc Khang serve as a shining example for present and future generations to learn from and emulate."
On the afternoon of April 15th, the delegation led by the President visited the residents of Ly Son Island.
