Inauguration of the temple dedicated to the Mother of King Mai
(Baonghean)On the morning of February 21st (the 12th day of the first lunar month), Nam Thai commune (Nam Dan district) held the inauguration ceremony for the temple dedicated to the mother of King Mai.
King Mai's mother, whose real name was Tran Thi Doi, was born and raised in Mai Lam village, Mai Phu commune, Thien Loc district, now Mai Phu commune, Loc Ha district, Ha Tinh province. Due to the need to earn a living, she left Mai Phu village and settled in Con Chen cave, Ngoc Trung village, Dong Liet commune (now Hamlet 1, Nam Thai commune, Nam Dan district), where she gave birth to King Mai. To commemorate her contributions, in July 2012, the Party Committee, government, and people of Nam Thai commune, along with philanthropists and descendants of the Mai family from all over the country, joined forces to build a temple dedicated to King Mai's mother on the original site of Con Chen cave, where 13 centuries ago she settled, gave birth to, and raised the national hero Mai Thuc Loan.
After nearly seven months of construction, the temple has now been completed and put into use just in time for the grand celebration of the 1300th anniversary of the Hoan Chau Uprising and the King Mai Temple Festival in 2013. This project was entirely funded through social contributions, reflecting the heartfelt respect and affection for the parents who nurtured and fostered the great ambitions of the national hero who repelled foreign invaders and established the independent Van An Kingdom in the 13th century.
