This year, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Paris Agreement, the Government of Vietnam and the Republic of France are organizing the "Year of France in Vietnam," following the 2014 "Year of Vietnam in France." Because of this significance, the Lunar New Year celebration of the Year of the Snake is considered the first large-scale event in a series of events that will be held consecutively in France, particularly in the capital city of Paris.

VIn line with the policy of encouraging overseas Vietnamese to connect with their homeland according to the correct time zone, the Vietnamese Embassy in France organized a Gala Music Festival on the evening of February 8, 2013 (the 28th day of the Lunar New Year) starting at 6:30 PM. Guests for this evening's performance included prominent artists and intellectuals from the French community, who arrived at 6 PM (11 PM Vietnam time) to celebrate the New Year together: Among them was the renowned singer Le Quyen – the first queen of Vietnamese light music, a voice beloved by generations of audiences both domestically and internationally.

Poet and musician Nguyen Vinh Tien flew in from the southern city of Toulouse, where he is pursuing his doctorate in architecture, to sing his songs:My grandmother,The dewdrop rises.,Oh river, stop flowing!The program also features the Osta Nguyet Anh folk music group and a lion dance troupe from Lyon.

On the evening of February 9, 2013 (New Year's Eve), the Vietnamese Cultural Center in France (CCV) - located at 19 Albert Street, 13th arrondissement, Paris - organized a program.Vietnamese traditional TetFrom 3 PM (8 PM Vietnam time).


During the program, Nguyen Vinh Tien will sing for the audience and accompany himself on guitar while performing his own songs:Brown sparrows,provincial townandAfternoon dream(Music: Giáng Son) Lyrics written by him. Famous singer Lệ Quyên will sing:Little Spring(Music: Tran Hoan, lyrics: Thanh Hai)The sea sings this afternoon.(Hong Dang)Simple things(Phu Quang)Sound of waves(Duong Thu). The program also features the following songs:Hometown(Music: Giáp Văn Thạch, lyrics: Đỗ Trung Quân)The Dakrong River in Spring(To Hai) performed by Tang Trung Hieu. Led by director Le Hong Chuong (former director of the Central Documentary & Scientific Film Studio), CCV, although only established a few years ago, has been operating actively, continuously, and effectively. All programs here are free and attractive, attracting a large number of overseas Vietnamese, students, and French friends who are increasingly connected to Vietnamese culture.
