Cu ly tubers are used as a medicine to treat back pain and aching tendons and bones. Each kilogram of tubers is purchased in the villages for 2,000 VND, and in Muong Xen town for 2,500 to 3,000 VND. When they learned that businesses were purchasing this type of tubers, ethnic people went to the mountains to exploit them. On average, each day, a person can exploit from 50kg to 80kg (equivalent to 100,000 to 160,000 VND/day). No unit or individual has yet counted or estimated the amount of cu ly tubers in Ky Son, but every day, over 5 tons of tubers are gathered in Muong Xen for export. Initial information shows that some Chinese traders have ordered cu ly tubers from domestic retailers.
