Coolies were gathered in Muong Xen.

Enterprises export coolies.

The cu ly root is used as a medicine to treat back pain and aching tendons and bones. Each kilogram of root is purchased in the villages for 2,000 VND, and in Muong Xen town for 2,500 VND to 3,000 VND. When they learned that businesses were purchasing this type of root, ethnic people went up to the mountains to exploit it. On average, each day, a person can exploit from 50kg to 80kg (equivalent to 100,000 VND to 160,000 VND/day). No unit or individual has yet counted or estimated the cu ly reserve in Ky Son, but every day, over 5 tons of roots are gathered in Muong Xen for export. Initial information shows that some Chinese traders have ordered cu ly roots from domestic retailers.
