(Baonghean.vn) -According to forecasts, storm No. 6 may make landfall this evening. The center of the storm is located in the Northeastern provinces and Thanh Hoa. However, since the morning of August 7, in some localities such as Hoang Mai, Quynh Luu, Dien Chau and some coastal communes, the wind has turned strong and relatively heavy rain has occurred.

In Quynh Luu - a locality with a relatively large number of fishing boats, after being forecast that storm No. 6 would make landfall, fishermen here are actively calling on boats to return to shelters to ensure safety of life and property. As of 11:00 a.m. on August 7, Quynh Luu district had 1,190 boats of people from 8 coastal communes called to return to safe shelters at anchorage areas to avoid the storm.

Mr. Nguyen Van Bac, hamlet 8, Son Hai commune, Quynh Luu said: "We were fishing at coordinates 105-106, but when we heard on the radio that a storm was about to hit, we immediately packed up our fishing gear and machinery to find the fastest way to bring the boat back to shelter."

Lieutenant Colonel Ho Quoc Hai - Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station said that storm No. 6 has weak winds, but moves very fast. Moreover, most of the fishermen's boats here mainly fish in the Gulf of Tonkin, located right on the path of storm No. 6, so if they are subjective, they can suffer heavy damage. Therefore, the unit has proactively coordinated with the functional departments of Quynh Luu district and relatives of the boat owners to call on the boats to return to a safe place immediately.

The safety of dams is an issue of special concern to the Flood and Storm Prevention Board of Quynh Luu district, Hoang Mai town and related units. Therefore, throughout the day today, these units have increased the work of on-site inspection, reviewed all flood and storm prevention plans on dams, and tried to minimize the damage caused by the impact of storm No. 6.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dinh - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district said: The district's flood and storm prevention committee has directed sub-committees to strictly implement and review all storm prevention plans in the area. In particular, special attention should be paid to protecting the safety of large-capacity dams, limiting damage to property and people's lives, and strictly implementing the 4 on-site plan in storm prevention.
