When infected, no matter what the cause is and what type of bacteria is causing it, the first and most important thing to do is to replenish water and electrolytes.

Bacteria that cause diarrhea.

Summer with hot weather is very favorable conditions for acute diarrhea. There are many types of bacteria that cause acute diarrhea such as Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli, Vibrio cholera, worms, flukes, Salmonella bacteria, Shigela or Rotavirus.

It is important to note that the rehydration solution must be prepared according to the instructions for use. Do not divide the ORS packet or hydrit tablets into smaller portions to prepare multiple times. If the rehydration solution is not consumed within 12 hours, it must be discarded. Rehydration must be continued until the patient has solid stools and less than 3 times per day.

Another very important point is that while having diarrhea, you need to maintain a proper diet. Food should be softer and more liquid than usual, but still must include all four food groups. If the patient is a young child, you must still breastfeed and the solid food should be thinner, softer and divided into many small meals.

In addition, depending on the cause of diarrhea, antibiotics, drugs that reduce intestinal motility or digestive enzymes can be used. However, only a doctor has the right to prescribe any medication, you should not use the drug on your own to avoid possible unfortunate consequences.

With diarrhea caused by cholera, the patient will be treated with specific antibiotics, rehydration and electrolytes. Acute diarrhea caused by Salmonella is treated mainly with rehydration, antipyretics, sedatives or antibiotics if necessary. Acute diarrhea caused by staphylococcal toxins requires rehydration and electrolytes, cardiovascular support. Disease caused by Rotavirus only requires water and electrolyte balance...

Acute diarrhea in general and acute diarrhea due to bacterial infection in particular are important causes of death in many regions of the world, including some regions in Vietnam, so it is necessary to pay special attention to propaganda and education for all people to be aware of environmental hygiene, hygiene and food safety, good preservation of food and drinking water before, during and after processing; eat cooked food, drink boiled water; create the habit of washing hands before eating, washing hands after going to the toilet; good management of household waste, especially human waste, especially that of patients with acute diarrhea. When pets are sick for any reason, they need to be isolated and not exposed, especially children.
