(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of June 20th, in Vinh City, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, in coordination with the Nghe An Provincial Red Cross Society, organized a ceremony to launch a fundraising campaign for the Humanitarian Fund. Attending the ceremony were representatives from the Provincial People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee, as well as various departments and localities within the province.
Over the years, thanks to the active involvement of member organizations of the Fatherland Front and the positive response from all sectors of the population, the business community, philanthropists, organizations inside and outside the province, and international organizations, thousands of people with disabilities, victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, orphans, lonely elderly people, the poor, and victims of natural disasters and calamities in the province have received financial and material support through the Provincial Red Cross Society. This has helped them overcome difficulties, gain confidence in overcoming their fate, and live better lives.

The organizing committee presented flowers to the groups and individuals who supported the Humanitarian Fund in 2013.
However, in our province, the number of poor households remains very large; and there are still 266,022 vulnerable individuals who need the sharing and assistance of the whole society… The establishment of the Humanitarian Fund aims to share difficulties, continue to provide emergency relief and humanitarian assistance such as building charitable houses, providing capital and livestock for production for these individuals.
At the launching ceremony, the Organizing Committee read a letter of appeal from the Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province regarding support for the 2013 Humanitarian Fund; as well as implementing the plan for coordinating the fundraising for the 2013 Humanitarian Fund. Nghe An province calls on agencies, organizations, units, schools, businesses, officials, civil servants, armed forces personnel, workers, and all sectors of the population to voluntarily contribute to the fund. Starting in June 2013, the Red Cross Society, in coordination with the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels, will launch a three-level fundraising campaign for the humanitarian fund throughout the province.
Right at the launch ceremony, the 2013 Humanitarian Fund received support from organizations and individuals totaling over 4.2 billion VND.
