According to data from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's merchandise exports to the US in the first six months of the year reached $10.8 billion, an increase of 17.34% compared to the same period in 2012.

Vietnam's merchandise exports to the US market have grown across almost all product categories, with over 73.5% of those categories experiencing growth.

Among Vietnam's exports to the US, 30 items achieved export value of $10 million or more, with 15 items exceeding $100 million.

Textile and garment exports led the way with a turnover of 3.9 billion USD, accounting for 36.5% of the market share, an increase of 14.20% compared to the same period last year; followed by footwear at 1.2 billion USD, an increase of 20.08%; wood and wood products at 875.6 million USD, an increase of 6.41%...

Regarding imports, in the first six months of 2013, Vietnam imported $2.6 billion worth of goods from the United States. Thus, in the past six months, the trade surplus with the US reached $8.3 billion, an increase of 19.2% compared to the same period last year.

The results for the first six months of the year are a positive sign that Vietnam's exports to the US for the whole year could surpass the $23 billion mark.
