In 6 months, trade surplus with the US increased by nearly 20%

According to the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's export turnover to the US in the first 6 months of the year reached 10.8 billion USD, an increase of 17.34% over the same period in 2012.

Vietnam's export turnover to the US market increased in almost all products, of which the number of products with growth accounted for over 73.5%.

Among Vietnam's export goods to the US, there are 30 items with a turnover of 10 million USD or more, of which 15 items reached over 100 million USD.

Textile and garment exports led with a turnover of 3.9 billion USD, accounting for 36.5% of market share, up 14.20% over the same period last year; followed by footwear reaching 1.2 billion USD, up 20.08%; wood and wood products reaching 875.6 million USD, up 6.41%...

Regarding imports, in the first 6 months of 2013, Vietnam imported 2.6 billion USD from the US. Thus, in the past 6 months, the trade surplus with the US reached 8.3 billion USD, an increase of 19.2% compared to the same period last year.

The above results for the first 6 months of the year are a positive signal that Vietnam's exports to the US for the whole year can surpass the 23 billion USD mark.
