In an interview with Itar-Tass news agency on August 30, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov declared that Moscow opposes any resolution of the United Nations Security Council that includes the use of force against Syria.

“Russia opposes any UN Security Council resolution that includes the possibility of using force,” said Gennady Gatilov.

According to Gatilov's previous statement, “at the current stage it is necessary to take all necessary actions to prevent a possible negative development of the situation or acts of force against Syria,” the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister told Itar-Tass.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon announced that he will meet with diplomats from the permanent members of the UN Security Council, including Russia, China, the UK, the US and France, on August 30 to discuss the situation in Syria.

This will be the second meeting in recent days of the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.

According to Itar-Tass, the most recent session took place on August 29 at Russia's initiative. However, the session ended without any results, as Russia and China opposed the draft resolution prepared by the British side that paved the way for a military campaign in Syria, while the US and France supported this draft.

The meeting reached a deadlock when Russian diplomats walked out.

After consulting with the members of the United Nations Security Council, Britain announced its refusal to participate in a possible military campaign in Syria. Meanwhile, Washington said it would make its own decision based on US interests.

Meanwhile, at the United Nations, there was an opinion that the White House would attack Syria without the approval of the United Nations Security Council./.
