(Baonghean.vn) -Not only is she good at all subjects; an exemplary class monitor, enthusiastic in the Youth Union activities, but Luong Thi Mai Huong is also a responsible elder sister, taking care of the housework and instructing her younger brother on behalf of her parents. With 28.5 points in block A to enter Hanoi University of Pharmacy and 29.5 points in block B to enter Hanoi Medical University, Mai Huong has an even greater joy than being admitted to the Party. That is a worthy gift for this "three-talented" female valedictorian...
Born in Vinh Son, Anh Son, but to make a living, Mr. Luong Van Giang (father of Luong Mai Huong) went to Dak Lak to start a business. At the age of 5, due to family circumstances, Luong Thi Mai Huong was sent back to her hometown to live with her aunt in Ben Thuy ward. Living away from her parents from a young age, Mai Huong was soon independent in life and self-motivated in her studies. During her years at Trung Do Primary School, Mai Huong was continuously an excellent student. In grade 5, she won a Silver medal at the National Math Olympiad for Children.
In secondary school, Mai Huong was admitted to Dang Thai Mai Secondary School, her house was several kilometers away from the school, but with the dedicated help of her aunt, Mai Huong still went to school regularly, was an excellent student at school for 4 consecutive years, and was awarded the Provincial Excellent Student in Chemistry for grade 9. In the 2010-2011 school year, Mai Huong passed the 10th grade Chemistry major at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted and the Math major at Vinh University High School for the Gifted. After that, she chose Vinh University High School for the Gifted to study because it was close to her house. For 12 years as an excellent student, for 12 years as an exemplary class monitor, Mai Huong was always loved by her teachers and friends.
“I have lived far away from my parents since I was young. For 8 years, due to difficult economic conditions, my parents could not visit my two sisters. I miss my father and mother so much. Especially on the first day of school, when my friends are taken by their parents to buy books, to the opening ceremony, or when they achieve high academic results and are taken by their parents to play... I also feel sad. I just wish that my parents would attend a parent-teacher meeting for me one time.” Mai Huong shared thoughtfully.

But in return, because she lived far away from her family since she was young, Mai Huong soon became self-aware in studying as well as in life. Outside of school time, Mai Huong is very proficient in housework, cooking, and taking care of and managing her younger siblings. Her parents live far away, so the two sisters live with her, so they always remind each other to study hard and be obedient so as not to upset her. Especially so that her parents can rest assured in doing business... Huong is always exemplary in everything from dressing, speaking to studying for her younger siblings to follow. Thanks to her sister's tutoring and teaching, her younger brother Luong Van Tra is also a good student, diligent and well-behaved. He is currently a 10th grade IT student at Vinh University High School for the Gifted.
In this year’s university entrance exam, Mai Huong applied to two “prestigious” universities, Hanoi Medical University and Hanoi University of Pharmacy, and as a result, she passed both schools with very high scores: 28.5 points in block A and became the valedictorian of Hanoi Medical University with 29.5 points in block B. “Since I was little, I dreamed of becoming a doctor. And to make that dream come true, I always tried to study hard. Choosing two schools with high entrance requirements, I relied on my own academic ability. Being the valedictorian of the school, I really feel very happy and very proud…”, Mai Huong shared.
For Mai Huong, to get high scores in both exams, the most important thing is the learning method. Each subject must have its own way of learning: Chemistry requires meticulousness and precision, so you must study carefully and grasp the basic knowledge; Math requires logical thinking, not leaving gaps in the textbook; Physics requires you to practice questions, do exercises and read many books; Biology requires you to train your memory because 50% of the questions are theoretical. Mai Huong's way of learning is not to skip any questions, especially the difficult ones. For the parts you have not studied carefully or done incorrectly, you must take careful notes to find a way to fix them immediately.

The greater joy that Mai Huong received was that she was admitted to the Party by the Vinh University Party Committee at the end of July. Her happiness was even more complete when Mai Huong and her sister moved into their new house, and their parents decided to return to their hometown to take care of their children and reunite with their family. “That is the greatest reward, the greatest happiness that I have received…”, Mai Huong confided.
