You come from various faculties and training programs of universities under the full-time, regular training system as regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training. Among you are many Party members, underprivileged students, and those with an overall GPA above 9.0. Many also come from particularly difficult circumstances but have shown a spirit of striving and overcoming challenges in their studies, producing scientific research projects, practical and effective initiatives and solutions that have won awards domestically and internationally. Notably, some of you are also key members in the Youth Union and Student Association activities at your respective universities...
Speaking at the ceremony, Hanoi Youth Union Secretary Nguyen Thi Nga said that 2013 marked the 11th consecutive year that Hanoi had organized the ceremony to honor outstanding valedictorians graduating from universities and academies in the city.
Through this, we aim to educate about the tradition of studiousness of the capital and the nation, and to raise the awareness and sense of responsibility of students in particular and the youth of the capital in general in participating in the construction and development of the capital and the country.
Over the past 10 years, 1,203 valedictorians have been honored and received commendations from the People's Committee of Hanoi City. Most of these valedictorians, after being recognized, have effectively utilized their skills and knowledge, making initial contributions to the development of the capital city and the country.
As one of hundreds of valedictorians graduating from universities and colleges in 2013, Pham Thi Thu Hien (Valedictorian of the University of Natural Sciences - Vietnam National University, Hanoi) expressed her honor and pride at being recognized at today's ceremony.
Hien shared: “Today's result is just the first step, and also a stepping stone in my learning and training process. After graduation, I plan to study abroad and I have applied for a scholarship from Seoul National University of Science and Technology (South Korea), majoring in New Energy. I hope that after 3 years of studying there, I will accumulate more knowledge and improve myself so that after returning I can contribute a lot to my homeland.”
