There will be a new exam format for Foreign Languages.
In the 2014 high school graduation exam, the Ministry of Education and Training will maintain the same exam format as in 2013. That was the affirmation of Mr. Mai Van Trinh, Director of the Department of Testing and Education Quality Assessment (Ministry of Education and Training) at the press conference announcing some contents about the 2014 high school graduation exam and university and college entrance exam.
Accordingly, the subjects: Math, Literature, History, Geography will still be tested in essay form. Chemistry, Biology, Physics will be tested in multiple choice form.
However, to evaluate students' foreign language learning abilities and skills more comprehensively, in this year's high school graduation exam, the Ministry of Foreign Languages exam will have an additional essay section in parallel with the multiple choice section.
Mr. Mai Van Trinh also said that currently, there are still differences in teaching and learning foreign languages in different localities. Students studying this subject are still very passive and do not have the communication skills that meet the set standards.
However, Foreign Languages play a very important role in the process of Vietnam integrating with the region and the world and training "global citizens". Therefore, in the near future, the Ministry of Education and Training will aim to make Foreign Languages a compulsory subject in the curriculum up to grade 12. Teaching and learning this subject will be different from the present, so that students can not only communicate well but also use it as a language in all jobs, labor and integration with the region and the world./.
