All the students in the International Biology Olympiad won medals.

At the 25th International Biology Olympiad in Indonesia, which recently concluded in 2014, all four contestants from the Vietnamese team won awards, including one Silver Medal and three Bronze Medals, a greater success than the four Bronze Medals won the previous year.

The exam took place in Bali, Indonesia from July 5-13, 2014, with over 200 candidates competing in two parts: theory and practice.

The silver medal for the Vietnamese team went to Le Thi Nguyet Hang, a student in grade 11 at Le Quy Don Specialized High School in Da Nang.

The three Bronze medals were awarded to Pham Minh Duc (11th grade, Le Hong Phong Specialized High School, Nam Dinh); Tran Le Quoc Khanh (12th grade, Le Hong Phong Specialized High School, Ho Chi Minh City) and Dao Trong Doanh (12th grade, Tran Phu Specialized High School, Hai Phong).

Speaking at the welcoming ceremony on the evening of July 13th in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien affirmed that the medals won by the Vietnamese student delegation this year are highly commendable. In Vietnam, the conditions for teaching and learning Biology are still limited, so the results in international Biology competitions in recent years have not been as high as in other subjects. In recent years, along with changes in teaching and learning, especially in training the team, students have had more opportunities to conduct practical work and experiments, therefore, the Vietnamese Biology Olympiad team has achieved better results in international competitions.

The achievements of the Vietnamese team at this year's International Biology Olympiad have affirmed Vietnam's efforts in teaching and learning biology, and have laid the foundation for success in both organization and performance of the Vietnamese team at the 27th International Biology Olympiad, which Vietnam will host in 2016.

On July 14th, the Ministry of Education and Training welcomed back the Vietnamese team from the 2014 International Mathematical Olympiad with outstanding achievements: 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal.
