On the afternoon of January 12, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his delegation arrived in Phnom Penh, beginning a working visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia at the invitation of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Decho Hun Sen.

Welcoming Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and the Vietnamese delegation at the airport were Cambodian Minister of Information and Communications Khieu Kanharith, representatives of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Ngo Anh Dung; Embassy staff, and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Cambodia.

The traditional friendly neighborly relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia has continued to develop positively in recent times. The two sides regularly exchange delegations at all levels.

Economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries continues to grow rapidly. Two-way trade turnover in 2012 reached 3.3 billion USD (up 18% compared to 2011 reaching 2.829 billion USD); expected to reach about 3.5 billion USD in 2013.

As of June 2013, Vietnam has invested in Cambodia in nearly 130 projects with a total capital of over 3 billion USD, focusing on several key areas such as industrial crop cultivation, mining, power source development, telecommunications, finance, banking;...

Security and defense cooperation has been enhanced; the two sides have closely cooperated in searching for, excavating, and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died in Cambodia.

In addition, the two sides continued to coordinate in the work of border demarcation and marker planting. The two sides affirmed to continue cooperation to soon complete this work, contributing to building a peaceful, friendly, stable and developed border.

According to the working program, this evening, the Prime Minister will visit and meet with officials and staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Cambodia.
