Previously, at around 11:00 a.m. on April 14, 2014, after receiving a report from the public about a suspect producing counterfeit goods (fake OMO brand laundry detergent) at the old kiosk of the Bac Dien Chau petrol station, located in Ngoc Tan hamlet, Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau district (Nghe An), the police department investigating crimes related to economic management and positions of Nghe An province quickly verified the source of information and caught Vu Thi Bon (born in 1958), residing in Ngoc Tan hamlet, Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau, in the act of producing counterfeit goods.

Subject Vu Thi Bon and the counterfeit goods arrested |
At the investigation agency, Vu Thi Bon confessed that the above mentioned OMO brand detergents were all counterfeit. Because she was in debt with black credit, some people suggested that she buy Duc Giang detergent and YES detergent to package them into OMO detergent to sell, both to make easy profit and not be detected, so Ms. Bon took the risk of buying YES detergent and Duc Giang detergent at a cheap price in Vinh City (10 million VND/1 ton), and ordered 3kg, 400g, 800g OMO detergent packaging in Hanoi for 4 million VND. After gathering enough materials to make fake products, Ms. Bon used 3 nylon presses and 1 table scale (5kg) to weigh Duc Giang detergent and YES detergent to the required weight of 400g, 800g, 3kg, then put them into corresponding OMO detergent bags and packaged the finished products, then sold them on the market to make a profit.
Ms. Bon started selling fake laundry detergent in February 2014. Seeing that the first time was successful, not being detected and earning high profits, Ms. Bon continued to produce fake and counterfeit goods. On April 14, while unloading goods from the truck and preparing to package them, she was arrested by the police.
The case is under further investigation.
