April 16, 2014 12:16

(Baonghean.vn) - On April 16, the Department of Criminal Investigation on Economic and Position Management of Nghe An Provincial Police issued a decision to temporarily detain Vu Thi Bon (born in 1958), residing in Ngoc Tan hamlet, Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau (Nghe An) to serve the investigation of the act of producing counterfeit goods.

Previously, at around 11:00 a.m. on April 14, 2014, after receiving a crime report from the people about a suspect producing counterfeit goods (fake OMO brand laundry detergent) at the old kiosk of Bac Dien Chau petrol station, located in Ngoc Tan hamlet, Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau district (Nghe An), the police department investigating crimes on economic management and positions of Nghe An Provincial Police quickly verified the source of information and arrested Vu Thi Bon (born in 1958), residing in Ngoc Tan hamlet, Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau, for producing counterfeit goods.

During the on-site search, the police seized nearly 2,000 packages of OMO brand laundry detergent suspected of being counterfeit, 4.5 kg of OMO brand laundry detergent packaging, 1 5 kg scale, 3 plastic sealing machines, 50 bags of Duc Giang brand laundry detergent produced by Duc Giang Detergent and Chemical Joint Stock Company, and 25 bags of YES brand laundry detergent. All of these goods did not have any invoices or documents proving their origin.

At the investigation agency, Vu Thi Bon confessed that the above mentioned OMO brand laundry detergents were all counterfeit. Because she was in debt with black credit, and some people suggested buying Duc Giang laundry detergent and YES laundry detergent to package them into OMO laundry detergent to sell, both to make easy profits and not be detected, Ms. Bon took the risk of buying YES laundry detergent and Duc Giang laundry detergent at a cheap price in Vinh City (10 million VND/1 ton), and ordered 3kg, 400g, and 800g OMO laundry detergent packaging in Hanoi for 4 million VND. After gathering enough materials to make fake products, Ms. Bon used 3 nylon presses and 1 table scale (5kg) to weigh Duc Giang laundry detergent and YES laundry detergent to the required weight of 400g, 800g, and 3kg, then put them into the corresponding OMO laundry detergent bags and packaged the finished products, then sold them to the market to make a profit.

Mrs. Bon started selling fake laundry detergent in February 2014. Seeing that the first time she got away with it, without being detected, and earning high profits, Mrs. Bon continued to produce fake and counterfeit goods. On April 14, while unloading goods from the truck and preparing to package them, she was arrested by the police.

The case is under further investigation.
